It would be nice if you can specify what secondary he was (im presuming warrior). Probably brought a sword skill with him. I don't reccomend it. Your SS/SV buddy should be able to take care of it. I just wand it to death if I see one.

when i do UW I usually have a few points left over. I'm guessing that the monk threw it into swordsmanship and used an energy (not adrenal) skill to kill the nightmares with. Most likely bull's strike or something along those lines.

--edit--
I can't give you a tried and true answer since I'm not doing UW right now and I'm not going to pay 1k to go find out

But I still think that killing the nightmares the regular way is the best since It won't take up an extra skill slot.

use max damage smiting rod. It does light damage and kills nightmares in 2 hits. make sure you meet damage requirements.

you can use the skill smite - adds a chunk of smiting damage onto your attack

I use a Sword or Axe (depending my my mood), and I juse set my F2 weapon spot to my smiting wand and then switch to the wand when the nightmare pops then switch back to my sword/axe.

Wehn ever I farm UW as a monk I take a max damage smiting staff constumized for me and kill the nightmares myself. thats what you sould do. No points on sword or axe. Your weapon sould be one handed and ranged.

yes, that wasn't a typeing mistake but a thinking mistake! Happens sometimes. I use a Wroths Rod in UW. its only about 4k and I find it really useful!

Brother Gilburt

although I do switch to a The Yakslapper if I died once to get rid of the -50 focus item and get more energy.

nightmares are killed so fast because they have almost no health down there. Thast why there caled dyeing nightmares. thats how it died so fast. You don't need to kill it with sword. any weapon that you ahve points in will work. but the weapon sould be a monk weapon.

i use either 3 ways to kil nightmares

1. run up and pop it with zealots fire

2. bring sprint and aggro a group then sprint away the nightmare will use rend but the aatxes will lose aggro then u can recast enchants

3. aggro the aatxes and hide behind the ghosts and recast enchants

the ghosts were moved so you can't do that now.

Easiest way is to use spellbreaker before going in, and using a wand to kill them before SB runs out. If you wanted to use a sword/axe or whatever for 20% enchantments, I'd recommend only switching to that weapon after the nigtmare(s) is dead.

If you wanted to go solo, not 2-person, then you probably want a different elite than spellbreaker, but good luck.. the methods mentioned may work, but if 2 or 3 nightmares pop up I'd assume you will die (as I did when I tried to go solo). Its much quicker and safer with a ss/sv necro.

Hmm maybe the sprint method may work safely, I have not tried that.
